One of my favorites too. Loved him in so many movies.
To me he was always Sgt Bill Gannon from Dragnet. He was a class act all the way around. What a great full life he had.

One of my all time favorite character actors. Dragnet, M*A*S*H, The Apple Dumpling Gang, The Snowball Express just to name a few. What a wonderful life.
