Century 21 Monorail

Something different for today. This is a postcard shot of the Alweg Monorail from the 1962 Seattle World's Fair "Century 21". Like Disneyland's monorail, this one is on the National Landmark lists.
Seattle is my hometown and I miss the monorail running down 5th Ave. Sniff, sniff........

Penny Arcade and Sunkist

Here is a shot from the late 80's. The Penny Arcade still had the Nickelodens and games. The Candy Palace was to the right of the Penny Arcade. And we have Sunkist. I miss not being able to get my freshly squeezed OJ in the morning. Sunkist was a sponser at Disneyland from 1955 to 1990.

Golden Horseshoe Jamboree 1989

Between 1985 and 1994, Disneyland presented the Golden Horseshoe Jamboree. It stared Sam the Bartender and Miss Lilly Langtree in a musical variety show similar to the Golden Horseshoe Review. Unlike the Review, this show featured many different actors in the lead rolls over the years. If you look close, in the middle background, I believe this actor is still performing at the magic kingdom.

The Lunching Pad 1989

Since they are now doing work on the old Radio Disney shack to the new Hatmosphere, I thought I'd show this image of what it looked like in '89. This was the begining of the color change of Tomorrowland from the earth tones of oranges of the '70's and '80's to the lavenders and deep purples of the early '90's. Note the planters in front of the Lunching Pad, these were removed in the early '90's.

Christmas in August

Here is a little x-mas in August for you. This pic of the castle was way before the current color scheme, it's the original. The ivy on the castle walls, the x-mas trees in the moat! Things that you don't see at todays x-mas cellebrations.

Motor Boat Cruise to Gummy Glen

Here is a pic of the Motor Boat Cruise in it's final season as part of the Disney Afternoon Live! To be honest I miss the Motor Boat Cruise. I was a nice trip thru the trees, a great in-between attraction.

Tahitain Terrace 1990

I still think that this was the best resturant in disneyland. The food was great and the show was entertaining. There were always a full show, unlike the other place that took over........

Bear Country 1987

In the spring of 1987, I happend upon this scene in Bear Country. To the left is the entrance to Bear Country and to the right is Fowler's Harbor. I wondered why they were cutting down all the trees. Two weeks after this pic was taken, the official groundbreaking ceremony happened.

TBT, My first post!........Tomorrowland Terrace 1990

This is the first pic that I hope will be first of many I hope to post.
This pic was taken on July 17, 1990. It is of the Tomorrowland Terrace in the early morning. On a interesting note, If you look on the left side of the pic you'll see the Peoplemover but something is missing above it.
