Knott's Berry Farm 1959

Here are some pics of a trip my mom and dad took when they first started dating in 1959 (they were married in 1962). These are from October of 1959. Knott's sure doesn't look like this anymore (not for the best).
First up is the Stagecoach.
Here we have a lovely view of the ghost town.

I'm assuming that this is a demo of rope handling. Look at the little chuch in the background.


And finally, the steam train!

That's not a rope trick, exactly. That's "Happy Jack" Tripp doing tricks with a whip. Trip was an attraction at Knott's from at least 1955 to at least 1966. He performed in the middle of the stagecoach's "return loop," which kept his cracking whip a good long way from the public. You don't often see photos of him, so this is especially cool.
