Something special pt. 2

In my last post I posted pics of my very first Disneyland Model. Now you will get to see what I learned to do with scale and accuracy. From the pics in my last post, we have journeyed about 10 years to 1993. Now mind you I had been building models for all that time, my own version of Disneyland. This is the model where I put what I had learned all together at the same time. This is my model of Tomorrowland. I built it to represent three different time periods 1967, 1977, 1987 (in the late 90's I started a 1997 version but gave up as I hated the '97 Tomorrowland). I know that I posted some of these pics a long time ago, but I just found the slides and these are new scans.

A close up of some of the model.

Star Tours

The Peoplemover and Rocket Jets

Inside the Peoplemover Model. I hand sanded each one of those Peoplemover Cars!

So there are sections of the model left. I still have the Carousel Theater, Star Tours, the Tomorrowland Stage and the Peoplemover. Time was not good to the model as it was built of paper and wood. Anyway, there you are. A career that could have been!

Well done!

Those are amazing models. How many hours did you put into them? It must have taken forever...

This is very cool! I can't even imagine how much work went into these. If I wasn't so lazy I would try my hand at this too!!

Wow...

That is amazing.

Hey! If you color the pictures in black and white...maybe you can sell them to Dave, Matterhorn and Major Pepperidge! ;)

Kidding guys--love the sites and this model is absolutely awe inspiring!

These are absolutely incredible! Is it all made from paper? What's the scale that you used? I've always wanted to get into this kind of modeling.

That has to be one of the neatest things I have ever seen! My sons have made paper model football stadiums since they were very small, but yours is just incredible. I can't wait to show them the pictures. They will probably start on their own version after viewing yours, as my entire family is nuts about WDW, especially Tomorrowland!

Congratulations on some nice modeling, especially the "three stage' Tomorrowland concept. Did you have many references to work from (other than photos?)

Sorry I'm late to the party on these blog entries: I am moving and my internet provider mis-understood the "end of service" date I wanted, so Internet access has been spotty for me.

Neat. I've always fantasized about doing something like that. Now that I know you've done it, I can stop worrying about it!

Btw, how about using your skills to build 3D computer graphic models of Tomorrowland? Then you can move it backward and forward through time to see it change!

Whee!
